Hidden Elegance
In this recent project, we had the pleasure of working with a couple who value refined elegance and a minimalist lifestyle. This space was designed to reflect their frequent travels and love for contemporary art, while maintaining a seamless and functional living experience.
At first glance, you’ll notice the serene flow of light through the space, accentuated by the Flos lighting fixture, a renowned piece from the IC Lights Collection, which brings a delicate balance of industrial design and poetic grace. The modular chandelier above the dining area enhances the modern aesthetic, creating an ethereal glow that fills the room.
The artwork adorning the walls was sourced from a private collection of contemporary paintings, featuring pieces inspired by the works of Henry Taylor, a famous modern painter known for his intimate depictions of human figures and experiences. Each canvas adds a layer of emotional depth to the space, perfectly aligning with the clients’ artistic sensibilities.
The furniture includes iconic mid-century modern pieces like the Barcelona Chair by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, providing a timeless element to the otherwise contemporary setup. The mix of high-end materials such as stainless steel, glass, and soft-textured rugs creates a harmonious contrast between cold and warm textures.
One of the most unique aspects of this project is the cleverly concealed kitchen. Behind the mirrored wall lies a hidden kitchen space—perfect for a couple who seldom cook at home. Since they often travel and dine out, the kitchen remains compact and hidden, providing the aesthetic illusion of more open space. The mirrored doors not only reflect light beautifully but also offer functionality without disrupting the clean lines of the room. There is no need for a kitchen island or bulky appliances, as this area is designed for minimal use, offering elegance and efficiency.
